Poetics Relation
Poetics of Relation by Edouard Glissant, Poetics of Relation
The Poetics of Mind: Figurative Thought, Language, and Understanding by Raymond W. Gibbs, The traditional view of the mind holds that poetic language is a special human ability requiring different cognitive and linguistic skills than employed in ordinary language. The author overturns the traditional perspective by showing how figurative aspects of language reveal the poetic structure of mind. Ideas and research from psychology, linguistics, philosophy, anthropology, and literary theory are used to establish important links between the poetic structure of thought and everyday use of language. The Poetics of Mind evaluates current philosophical, linguistic, and literary theories of figurative language and relates the empirical work on figurative language understanding to the broader issues concerning the nature of everyday thought and reasoning.
Relation (mathematics) - A relation is a mathematical object of a very general type, the generality of which is best approached in several stages, as will be carried out below. The basic idea, however, is to generalize the concept of a binary relation, such as the binary relation of 'equality' that is denoted by the sign "=" in a statement like "5 + 7 = 12" or the binary relation of 'order' that is denoted by the sign " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relation_%28mathematics%29 Asymmetric relation - Asymmetric often means, simply: not symmetric. In this sense an asymmetric relation is a relation, in particular a binary relation, which is not a symmetric relation. False relation - A false relation (also called cross relation, cross-relation or English dissonance) is a harmonic effect in western tonal music, in which a note (usually the third degree of the scale) precedes the same note flattened by a semitone in a different part in the following chord. Dependence relation - In mathematics, a dependence relation is a binary relation which generalizes the relation of linear independence.
